Addiction Explained

We believe that addiction is a primary medical disease not a moral deficiency. Most individuals and families we have had the privilege of treating typically ask us how or why this happened. While a genetic predisposition is the number one risk factor in contracting the disease, the environment that an individual grows up in plays an important role as well. The addict is not responsible for their addiction but they are responsible for their recovery and part of the recovery process is making amends for the transgressions resulting from their active addiction.
